Will I Fail Drug Tests After Using CBD Products?

There is a lot of confusion about CBD products and what is in them. Many people worry about the same thing. Will CBD products cause them to fail a drug test? The answer to this is – maybe.

What’s in CBD Products That You Should Worry About?

Not all CBD products contain THC. That is the component of cannabinoid or cannabis that will cause you to feel high. Many CBD products that are broad spectrum, or created from isolates, do not contain this. Our products, that are full-spectrum contain trace amounts of THC those other types of products do not.

A traditional urine drug test will generally look for a common metabolite of THC – which is a component of it – called THCCOOH. The test, in other words, is looking for the cannabinoid THC. To be clear, THC, which is also known as tetrahydrocannabinol, is a natural component of both cannabis and hemp plants. Marijuana and hemp both contain the naturally occurring compound THC. However, the amount differs significantly between the two.

Most of the time, the products you take will not make you high in the sense that marijuana can. Yet, it is important to know that this does not always mean the products are safe to use if you have to pass a drug test. If you are going to have to take a drug test for any reason, you need to know if a product is going to show up on the screening. That’s especially true when you are taking a CBD product for medicinal reasons and not to get high.

Many products promise to have no THC in them. However, that is not always accurate. Some will have trace amounts of THC in them. That may mean they will cause you to fail a drug test.

Will Your Products Cause Me to Fail a Drug Test?

Take into consideration what you are consuming. Remember, every product is different.

Our products at Vitality CBD are full spectrum. That means they may contain trace amounts of THC. The amounts – if any at all is present – are within the legal limits of federal law. That means they still meet the requirements for the labeling of non-psychoactive.

That said, we still avoid stating such, as we don't want anyone to confuse non-psychoactive with zero-THC. But please note, any type of ingestible product can have a very small amount of THC in it (even if not detected in lab reports).

Because our products contain trace amounts of THC, it means you are at a higher risk of failing a drug test.

If you have to take a drug test, especially if you have to take them on a regular basis, it is not wise to take any type of CBD product that is ingestible. That includes all brands of it, especially our full-spectrum CBD oils.

What About Products You Do Not Consume?

CBD oils and other products can also be used for many benefits when placed on the skin. These are not digested by your body and therefore do not go through your bodies embedded filtration systems.

It's considerably harder for topical CBD salves to enter the bloodstream especially the THC that may be contained within them. For that reason, they are generally safe to use even if you have to take a drug test. You can use these products without concern for failing a drug test.

That said, we still would recommend that anyone who is in a substance abuse program, or otherwise gets regular drug screens for legal reasons, just avoid CBD as a whole. It's not worth the risk.

Should You Use Full Spectrum Products?

Yes! Full spectrum products are ideal. They contain the best levels of cannabinoid and, therefore, can often provide the best potential outcome for you no matter what type of reason you are using them. If you are not taking a drug test – or do not plan to have one in the coming days or weeks – then you should choose full-spectrum CBD products.

The potential effects of full spectrum products are much higher than broad spectrum. Though many products that are broad spectrum still advertise that they can do most of the same things, that is not always accurate. The potential benefits of any product, including isolate, will range widely. Click here to learn more about the different CBD spectra.

Know What You Are Buying Before You Do

Whenever you purchase any type of CBD product, it is important to read the label and to know the brand. Look at the Certificate of Authenticity. Learn about any third party testing the company is doing to ensure that the product is accurate. You can do a few minutes of research on any product to find out what is actually in it.

If you are worried about using CBD products and failing a drug test, you may not want to use any products. However, isolate versions are usually safe to consume as well. If the products are made with this compound alone, they are unlikely to have any THC in them. Yet, again, you have to know and trust the brand you are buying.

At Vitality CBD, we encourage you to use our products wisely. They will not cause you to get high. However, because they have the full spectrum CBD ingredients, they may be seen on some drug tests.
