What Does Full-Spectrum Mean in CBD Products?

You've Heard It, But What is Full-Spectrum?

Many people are learning about the benefits of CBD products. When they are ready to purchase, they can become easily confused about the range of options available. One key concern is the term full spectrum. So what does full-spectrum CBD actually mean?

You may hear a number of different teams when talking about CBD. Terms like full-spectrum CBD oil, broad-spectrum CBD oil, and even THC-free CBD oil. These terms all relate to the purity of the product as well as the absence of THC in the product.

Understanding What Full -Spectrum Means

Vitality CBD's products are full-spectrum. Let's breakdown what that may mean to you based on a few key concepts about CBD:

  1. Consider the THC aspect. The Farm Bill of 2018 put in place new rules for growing hemp products in the U.S. It allowed for the cultivation of hemp that contains no more than 0.3 percent THC. This is quite important when considering whether or not THC is in any of the products you plan to use.
  2. Full-Spectrum is a term used to discuss cannabis products that contain only the legal dose of THC. On most products, you will find a label with their CBD purity. The range should generally be from 50 to 75 percent. When it reaches 80 percent or so, the THC levels present become non-detectable, at this point it becomes a broad spectrum product.

What You Should Know About Purity

It is common to see products claim a high level of purity. That is not always a good thing. The cannabis plant has over 150 different cannabinoids. Research indicates that when these components are together, they typically work better. If a product is too stripped down of these cannabinoids, they may not work as well as you desire. When consiering this, remember that when you see products labeled as pure CBD or 99 percent pure, it may not be a good thing. Some products like this are called an isolate.

Full-spectrum products have a lower level of purity. That is a good thing. That means there are more cannabinoids present and are working together.

Will Full-Spectrum Products Get You High?

At Vitality CBD, we only sell products that are full-spectrum. This type of product does not cause you to get high - the amount of THC present is significantly too low to do so.

When you use full-spectrum CBD oils like ours, there is no risk of getting high. It is the THC in the plant that creates that euphoric high. Full-spectrum products do not intoxicate you, but they help you in other ways. Some people report it aids them in feeling calm and relaxed.

Keep in mind that even if you are using products labeled as THC-Free, they do contain very small doses of allowable THC. That small does can build up in your body, and in some cases, that may impact a drug test (depending on the type of product you use, how much, and other factors). If you need to pass a drug test, it is a good idea to avoid all types of CBD products.

Confusion With Product Labeling

While Vitality strives to ensure our labeling is accurate and our information is very specific about our high-quality CBD products, we want our clients to know other products can be very misleading. You may even see some products labeled as full-spectrum and THC free on the same bottle - this is very misleading and often a good indicator that you are not purchasing a quality product. These products may also even be fake.

There are no standards set in place, as of yet, to really clarify what various CBD product terms are and what they mean. Because of this lack of legal terminology, you may be putting yourself at risk if you do not know what is in the product. To avoid that, choose a product that is easy to understand and properly labeled.

Is There a Time When You Should Not Use Full-Spectrum Products?

In nearly all cases, it is best to chosse a full-spectrum CBD product over broad-spectrum CBD products. The only time not to do so is when you know you have a drug test, and you do not want any risk of failing it. Again, this is a minor risk, but you need to recognized the present risk. In some cases, using CBD can cause a failed drug test

We also recommend not taking CBD products that are labeled with full-spectrum and THC. This implies that the product is either poorly made or even fake.

Are Full-Spectrum Products the Right Choice for You?

There are many reasons people use CBD oil. It is up to you to determine if it may benefit your needs. Your goal should be to choose products of the highest quality possible.

We also recommend not taking CBD products that are labeled with full-spectrum and THC. This implies that the product is either poorly made or even fake.
