CBD Guide for Beginners
Have you been interested in trying CBD oil but have a lot of questions before your first time? Questions like: How much do I take? How do I take it?
CBD has grown in popularity in the past few years, and for many people, the amount of information out there may be overwhelming. In this post, we break down many common questions beginners may have about CBD.
What is CBD?
CBD stands for cannabidiol, the medicinal compound found in the hemp plant. Hemp is naturally high in CBD and low in THC, which makes it prime for extracting CBD. CBD oil has been found to help many users with a multitude of ailments.
You can reap the benefits of CBD without the "high" associated with THC that you may be familiar with.
CBB is not the only beneficial part extracted from hemp. Hemp contains other compounds like terpenes, flavonoids and amino acids. These compounds, when consumed together, work synergistically. This is called the "entourage effect".
Vitality breaks down CBD for a more in-depth overview here.
How Does CBD Work?
The endocannabinoid system (ECS), found in the human body, translates signals from cannabinoids through receptors in our brain, central nervous system and immune system. ECS is responsible for regulating many of our daily bodily functions and also produces cannabinoids of its own, called endocannabinoids.
When cannabinoids from plants (hemp in our case) enter the body, they interact with our own ECS receptors and activate responses and provide a host of benefits.
3 Common CBD Oil Extracts
There are three main types of CBD oil that are extracted from the hemp plant. Including: Full-Spectrum, Broad Spectrum and Isolate.
Full-Spectrum CBD
This refers to the whole plant hemp extract.
Broad Spectrum CBD
Begins as full-spectrum CBD, then undergoes an additional process to remove the trace amounts of THC found. It does offer the "entourage effect" associated with full-spectrum.
CBD Isolate
Contains pure CBD only, no other cannabinoids, terpenes or other natural compounds that are found in the hemp plant. Research has
Vitality offers full-spectrum CBD products. Research has shown that it is superior for overall health and wellness than a CBD isolate and provides the whole plant profile and the entourage effect.
How Do I Take CBD?
There are many different formats for taking CBD. Tinctures, capsules, topicals, etc. There is no "best" way to take CBD oil, but there are some pros and cons to each and that is why Vitality is proud to offer what we believe to be the most effective forms of CBD.
Tinctures
- Fast absorption and high bioavailability.
- Easy to use. You place drops under the tongue and keep it there for at least 30 seconds for faster results.
- Versatility.
- Flexible dosing: Because of the dropper, you can fill it to your desired does and that allows you to find your "sweet spot".
Topicals
- Targeted relief for specific areas
- Can be formulated and combined with other essential oils and beneficial ingredients.
