Thanks to the 2018 Farm Bill, hemp or cannabis with less than 0.3% THC were removed from the list of controlled Schedule I Controlled Substances. While the bill itself did not directly discuss CBD, it stated that compounds that are extracted from hemp are legal when the correct regulations are followed.

This bill changed many laws regarding CBD-derived products, including those enforced in airports. However, TSA still has guidelines regarding liquids, and CBD is no exception. All liquids must be in travel-sized containers that are 3.4 ounces or less. This also applies to topical CBD products such as creams and gels. If your products exceed the limit, it’s better to pack them in your checked bag.

What About States Where CBD Is in a Gray Area?

This is where it gets a little tricky. While the 2018 Farm Bill was a victory for CBD consumers and producers, the bill gave each state the right to prohibit hemp-derived products.
