Why Does USDA Certified Organic Hemp Matter?

If you've been to the local grocery store, you've probably seen the USDA Organic logo several times. What you probably haven't seen regularly, is USDA Certified Hemp on the shelves.

For those who care about what they put in there bodies, they regularly seek out the produce marked as organic, and may even go out of their ways to look for products that carry the green USDA label. Some consumers take their organic cravings a step further, and even look for organic clothing, or even sheets for their bed.

Regardless of when or why you may or may not have made these types of purchasing decisions, we're here to tell you why USDA Organic Certifications matter. More specifically, we're here to share why it matters when we're talking about products made from USDA Certified Hemp.

You probably have your own reasons why buying organic matters to you, but we're here to give you a few more. No matter how often you make organic purchases, and no matter the reason you make them, those choices matter. It definitely matters to the Vitality CBD team.

USDA Certified Organic Hemp is Important

When polling our customers like you, we found that certified organic products matters to them, and nothing could make us happier. Because selling certified organic CBD products is important to us.

Not only do we believe using certified organic hemp is important, we believe it is vital. It's vital to the health of the world in which we live, and the bodies in which we inhabit. For us, and for our consumers, the only hemp we use in our products is hemp that we can confidently stand behind.

You may notice a lot of CBD and hemp brands claim to be organic. However, if the USDA organic logo doesn't exist on their products or their packages, it's not true. Additionally, if their products and packaging don't have a seal from the organization that certified them as organic, it means their use of the USDA seal is unauthorized.

To put it simply, without the two seals, there’s are no deals.

When it comes to finding federally legal hemp-derived CBD products you can trust, we believe having the two seals in the picture above matters. Why you may ask? We explain it briefly below.

Does Organic Really Matter?

While many still debate the nutritional benefits of organic foods and supplements over GMO based goods, there is no argument that organic food stuffs come with serious benefits. When a product is truly organic, it means that it has substantially lower levels of heavy metals and chemicals. This is a result of organic farming practices, specifically the lack of pesticide-use.

Pesticides have been linked to Leukemia (source), Parkinson’s disease (source), and other health issues. While more research will always be needed to explore the full health impacts of chemicals used in large scale farming, most pesticides have been approved for use in small quantities at inorganic farms.

Pesticides are generally, not so good, regardless of quantity.

Unfortunately, the reality is pesticides are rarely used in small quantities. Which means we are not consuming them in small quantities. Additionally, by using pesticides, farmers deplete the phytochemicals present in plants that help them build up natural resistances to bugs and weeds. As a result, using them makes our food crops weaker, and less sustainable. This can have a massive impact on our health and on the health of planet Earth.

Long-term pesticide use depletes the soil, has huge impacts on bee populations, and adds harmful pollutants to the air in which we breathe. Coupled with the heavy use of antibiotics and hormones in our livestock, we're getting chemicals in nearly everything we eat as well as in the air we breathe. Overall, this means the quality of conventional food is on the decline. There’s proof that dairy products from organic cows is 25% higher in Omega-3s than cows from industrial farming operations (source).

The jury is still out...

Unfortunately, the jury is still out worldwide. However, it's not a hung jury at Vitality CBD. While we know more research needs to take place. However, while the world collectively drags its feet, we’re making our food less nutritious while chronic illnesses are increasing.

To answer the original question, in the short-term, USDA Certified Organic Hemp not seem like it matters, but in the long-term it does. We as human beings plan on inhabiting the Earth for the long-term. So let's treat it's plant life like the future matters.
