Delta-8 vs. Delta-10

Delta-8 vs. Delta-10: Similarities & Differences

Vitality CBDDelta-8 Information

One of the great, but often confusing, aspects of the hemp industry is the large variety of products to choose from. The availability of different types of CBD and THC products and their various presentations allows individuals to find the one that best fits their needs, but it also sparks confusion in regard to the characteristics and profiles of each product. While there are many different products to discuss, today we’re going to dive deeper into Delta products; more specifically, the difference between Delta-8 and Delta-10.

And since we recently covered a similar topic over Delta-8 vs. Delta-9, here’s a quick summary of our previous article for you to keep in mind when learning about Delta-10.

Delta-8 vs. Delta-9 Findings:

      • Delta-8 is found in smaller traces than Delta-9 in the hemp plant
    • The biggest difference between Delta-8 and Delta-9 is their potency
  • The more subtle effects of Delta-8 offer a milder and more controlled high than Delta-9

What’s the Difference Between Delta-8 and Delta-10?

Delta-8

Delta-8 is a naturally occurring psychoactive substance found in the cannabis plant. Due to not being produced in large quantities, it’s typically extracted from CBD using a process called isomerization. This involves converting CBD into Delta-8 by changing the arrangement of its atoms. The newly created Delta-8 THC is then further purified and concentrated to remove any impurities and increase its potency.

In terms of effects, Delta-8 is becoming increasingly popular due to its milder and smoother high when compared to some alternative Delta products. This makes it a great option for THC users who want to avoid the potential negative side effects of more potent products.

Other potential benefits of Delta-8 include:

And as mentioned in our previous article, the National Cancer Institute also declared that Delta-8 has potential antiemetic, anxiolytic, appetite-stimulating, analgesic, and neuroprotective activities. As more research is performed, we’re certain that even more benefits of Delta-8 will come to light. For now, existing research shows that it has great potential in various health-related areas.

Delta-10

Delta-10 shares many similarities with Delta-8. Delta-10 is also found in small traces in the hemp plant, meaning it also needs to be extracted from CBD. Since both of these products are created by a series of chemical reactions, it’s important that both are tested by a third party. This demonstrates that they’re safe, accurately labeled, and free from contaminants.

Since Delta-10 is relatively new in the world of hemp-derived products, studies are very limited. That said, what we do know is that the main difference between Delta-10 and Delta-8 is that Delta-10 is less potent. This may be due to Delta-10’s weaker affinity to bind to the CB1 receptors of our endocannabinoid system; this translates into milder effects. Rather than acting as a sedative, it’s known for having energizing effects, which is why it’s recognized as recreational cannabis.

Although Delta-10 has low THC levels, it can still provoke psychoactive effects. This means it should be consumed carefully, even if it is less potent than Delta-8 and Delta-9.

Delta-8 vs. Delta-10: Which Is Better?

Delta-8 and Delta-10 juxtaposed with a question mark in the middle, implying the question of which is better

It’s hard to say which one is “better,” as preference plays a big role. At Vitality, we personally prefer Delta-8 over its alternative, as there is more research to support its benefits and effects. With such little research on Delta-10, it’s hard for the consumer to really understand the product they’re consuming, which is an important aspect of a wellness journey.

Delta-8 also tends to be preferred because of its THC content. Delta-10’s low potency is generally lower than what many consumers prefer. The benefit of Delta-8 is that it offers a mild and smooth high, so it’s the perfect balance between the high THC levels of Delta-9 and the low ones of Delta-8.

There is no right or wrong when it comes to preference. Each person should consider the characteristics of each product before choosing which one best fits their goals.
