What Does CBD Stand For?

vitalitycbdGeneral News

The technical definition of CBD is something you mind have already looked up and you would have found: CBD stands for cannabidiol, a compound primarily found in the flowers of the hemp plant.

As you well know, CBD is the hot topic these days! The industry is on the rise with new players and products entering the market what seems like every single day.

To Vitality CBD, this is anything but a fad or a trend. We know it's just going to keep getting a whole lot bigger!

Lets Get Technical

CBD is the medical abbreviation for cannabidiol - one of the primary active compounds found in cannabis plants. Known for supporting the body and mind.

CBD is a cannabinoid - one of many - that can be extracted from Cannabis sativa plant. Tetrahydrocannabinol, as your know it, THC, is another well-known cannabinoid and it is the psychoactive compound we find in the Cannabis sativa plant.

CBD is a non-psychoactive compound (you won't feel the high you associate with marijuana) that interacts with the body's endocannabinoid system, AKA ECS.

Endocannabinoid System

You may be asking "but why do I care about this?"  Here's the quick run down of the Endocannabinoid System (ECS)

The ECS is a vast network of receptors in the human body, just one of the many systems in the body. The purpose of the ECS is to create a balance and help us maintain overall good health. Our bodies naturally make endocannabinioids - activating the ECS. CBD fits into the receptors of the ECS.

Entourage Effect

As previously mentioned, CBD is one of the many cannabinoids which we can extract from hemp, in conjunction with naturally offering flavonoids, fatty acids, terpenes, and other beneficial compounds. Science shows that these compounds help CBD have a better effect when they are all working together! This is what we call the Entourage Effect

Research shows that using the whole plant maximizes the benefits delivered, which is why Vitality CBD incorporates as many of them into our full-spectrum products
